Letting sleeping dogs Lie

2 down and 3 to go.  Our friends, the Fullers, are off on vacation and we are keeping Dasiy and Jackson (fawns on sofa).  After a busy day, Polly and Toby were the first to fall asleep, Bell, Daisy and Jackson going over all the things they smelled today and saw and wondering what tomorrow would bring.

Laundry Day

Our pugs have a large crate in our laundry room, that they sleep in.  On top of it is where the feeding bowls are prepared and the laundry baskets set.  On the wall above are shelves with all the dogs needed items, meds, brushes, Belle's diapers etc. And also mounted to the wall is a large container that hold the pugs dry dog food, over the laundry baskets . It's a great setup and allows me room also for my pull down ironing board.   This morning started as laundry day and when I got the baskets I found I had been a little messy with the dry food.  Gotta be more carefull or I'll be washing clothes and dog food together.  YUK!

Finally the start of a new friendship

The most recent addition to our fur family was SHELLY, a rescued 8 year old Golden Retreiver, that was adopted in late June.  She is a great match for our family, but she has not been interested in buddying up with the pugs. Her socializing with them has been a top priority effort for me.   They are used to having a golden around.  Up until mid December of 09, we had Tela.  She had been with us since she was six weeks old and 14 1/2 years later she left us after suffering a stroke.  She was a sleeping buddy to Belle, our oldest pug and a momma to Toby and Polly.  Last night, we had a first, Shelly hopped on the sofa and Belle followed her, via her steps, and they laid side by side.  I grabbed the camera and with a little work got a great picture.  I know now that Shelly is learning what family is all about.

Old toys out of the attic

When our kids were small, I would rotate toys from their rooms the to the top of the closet.  One day last week, while placing some things in the attic, I saw a basket of dog toys that was in rotation.  I brought down a few and it was like they were new again, Great to know the process still works.

Rainy Days and SNOORING

A day like today calls for lots of naps and loud snooring from the dogs.  Can't spend much time outside and DOG WHISPER , one of our favorite programs, is off.

For a start, Life with Pugs is always full of excitement.  Whether it's a puppy or senior pug, their all clowns.  When your down and need encouragement they are by you side or in your lap.  And when your happy, their happy especially if they can get a treat.
27 years ago our love of pugs started, and we have been pugless for only 2 short periods of time after the passing of 2 at seperate times.  We urrently share our home with 3 pugs, Toby, Belle and Polly, A golden retreiver, Shelly (all have been rescue dogs) and 2 cats, Bobby and Sally.
When we bought our 1st Pug, Loo, we had never seen a live one, only a picture and seen adds in newspapers.  Men in Black and Frank had not made it to the silver screen nor were any in TV commercials.  Loo was 6 weeks old, black male with eyes that went in 2 different directions. And yes he was so ugly he was cute. That was the start of our pug involvement and for the past 7 years I have been involved with Alabama Pug Rescue and Adoption as a volunteer.  We have fund raisers, 2 times a month meet at local Petsmarts for meet and greet the rescues.  I help with the transports from shelters or vets to our local vet. We have even fostered but then fell in love and adopted so the hubby says no more fostering.
In May , 2010, I attended Milwaukee PugFest.  It was a long trip from Alabama with Belle, my friend, Dei, another volunteer and her son, but we had a great time.  Sooo many pugs.  Pug heaven.  We will be going back in 2011.
Keep in touch as time goes by I will post pictures of our group and the funny things they do and the things that will help you understand why we love them so.
